TrinityCore API Integration

ChatCommand Framework

Command Registration:

class PlayerbotCommandScript : public CommandScript
{
public:
    PlayerbotCommandScript() : CommandScript("PlayerbotCommandScript") { }

    ChatCommandTable GetCommands() const override
    {
        // Return nested command table structure
        return commandTable;
    }
};

RBAC Permissions:

  • All commands use rbac::RBAC_PERM_COMMAND_GM_NOTIFY
  • Console access: Console::No (in-game only)
  • Future enhancement: Custom RBAC permissions for bot-specific commands

Parameter Parsing:

// Optional parameters with type safety
bool HandleBotSpawnCommand(ChatHandler* handler,
                          std::string name,
                          Trinity::ChatCommands::Optional<uint8> race,
                          Trinity::ChatCommands::Optional<uint8> classId)
{
    uint8 botRace = race ? *race : player->GetRace();  // Default to player's race
    uint8 botClass = classId ? *classId : player->GetClass();  // Default to player's class
    ...
}

Player/World APIs

Player Access:

Player* player = handler->GetSession()->GetPlayer();
Player* bot = ObjectAccessor::FindPlayerByName(name);

Session Management:

SessionMap const& sessions = sWorld->GetAllSessions();
for (auto const& [accountId, session] : sessions) {
    if (Player* player = session->GetPlayer()) {
        // Process bot
    }
}

Teleportation:

player->TeleportTo(bot->GetMapId(), bot->GetPositionX(),
                   bot->GetPositionY(), bot->GetPositionZ(),
                   bot->GetOrientation());

Group Operations:

Group* group = player->GetGroup();
for (GroupReference* itr = group->GetFirstMember(); itr != nullptr; itr = itr->next()) {
    Player* member = itr->GetSource();
    // Process group member
}

DB2 Validation

Race/Class Validation:

bool ValidateRaceClass(uint8 race, uint8 classId, ChatHandler* handler)
{
    // Validate race
    if (race == 0 || race > MAX_RACES)
        return false;

    // Validate class
    if (classId == 0 || classId > MAX_CLASSES)
        return false;

    // Get DB2 entries
    ChrClassesEntry const* classEntry = sChrClassesStore.LookupEntry(classId);
    ChrRacesEntry const* raceEntry = sChrRacesStore.LookupEntry(race);

    // Validate race can be this class
    if (!classEntry->IsRaceValid(raceEntry->MaskId))
        return false;

    return true;
}

Helper Methods

FindBotByName(std::string const& name)

  • Checks:
    1. Race ID in valid range (1-MAX_RACES)
    2. Class ID in valid range (1-MAX_CLASSES)
    3. Race can be that class (DB2 ChrClassesRaceMask)
  • Return: bool (true if valid)

FormatBotList(std::vector<Player*> const& bots)

  • Purpose: Format bot list for display

Known Limitations

Bot Spawning/Deletion

Limitation: Conceptual implementation only Reason: Requires BotManager integration (Priority 2) Workaround: Commands validate input and show success messages, but don't actually create/delete bots yet

Performance Statistics

Limitation: Placeholder statistics Reason: Requires PerformanceTestFramework integration Workaround: Commands show example statistics, real metrics will be added when integrated

Configuration System

Limitation: Placeholder configuration Reason: Requires PlayerbotConfig runtime modification support Workaround: Commands show example config values, real system will be added in future

Bot Detection

Limitation: No robust bot vs player detection Reason: Bot flagging system not yet implemented Workaround: Commands assume all players are bots for now (will be fixed with BotSession flags)

Integration Points for Priority 2

When implementing Priority 2 (Advanced AI Behaviors), the following integrations are needed:

Task 2.1: Combat AI System

Integration: .bot stats command should show combat statistics
